Meet Your Eye Care Team

Dr. Christine Yeung

Dr. Yeung completed her undergraduate studies and obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree with honours status from the University of Waterloo. She is board certified by the Canadian Examiners in Optometry and the American National Board of Examiners in Optometry. As well, she has received certification for the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control.

    Having worn Ortho-K lenses herself for many years, Dr. Yeung has a special interest in myopia control and orthokeratology. A native to Mississauga, Dr. Yeung is delighted to return to the area and practice in the town of Oakville. "I am extremely excited to serve this community and give back to this amazing town."

    Outside of the office, Dr. Yeung enjoys golf and tennis. She is also an active member of the Toronto Trillium Lions Clubs. Having served as President, Dr. Yeung is passionate about giving back to the community, both at local and international levels. "It is extremely rewarding to volunteer within the neighborhood and give-back."

Dr. Ivy Koh

Dr. Koh brings an exceptional level of vision care and eye health services to the Oakville area. Graduating at the top of her class from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 2006, she has over 9 years of clinical experience and has trained with ophthalmologists sub-specializing in cornea, glaucoma and retina in the USA and Canada.

    Born and raised in nearby Erin Mills, Dr. Koh spent the last five years practicing in Vancouver, BC and enjoying the west coast lifestyle. She was happy to make a recent move back this year to Ontario with her husband to be closer to family and friends. She received the prestigious A.W. Cole Award for Clinical Excellence in her graduating year. Her clinical interests include ocular pathology, specialty contact lens treatment and pediatric eye care. She is member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, Canadian Association of Optometrists, and Canadian Coalition of Eye Care Professionals.

    Beyond the practice of eye care, Dr. Koh is committed to helping out in the community as well. While practicing in Vancouver, she was a volunteer during the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, performing eye care services for participating athletes and coaches.

Dr. Christina Hong

Dr. Julia Laverty

Dr. Hong attended McMaster University for her undergraduate education to obtain her Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) degree and went on to obtain her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Hong works with patients of all ages. She has had experience providing eye care to veterans during her ocular disease rotation at the Lexington Veterans Medical Affairs clinic in Kentucky. She has also had disease-focused rotations in Mississauga and Richmond Hill including providing care with geriatric home visits and pre-and post-operative refractive and cataract surgery management. Her clinical interests include pre-and post-operative management, myopia control, and speciality contact lenses including orthokeratology and scleral lenses.

Dr. Laverty provides complete eye care to patients of all ages, with a special interest in paediatrics and a strong background in ocular disease management. Born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, Dr. Laverty attended Western University and went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo. She loves to be actively involved with her community and is excited to be part of the Oakville Eye Care team.

    After working in Calgary following her graduation, Dr. Laverty is excited to be returning to Ontario, to be closer to friends and family. Over the course of her training Dr. Laverty has completed clnical rotations at special focus disease-based clinics, and provided care to recent Canadian refugees and their families.

    She has traveled to Ecuador to provide volunteer services to those most in need, and looks forward to the opportunity to become involved in future volunteer opportunities, both locally and globally. Dr. Laverty is passionate about providing complete and superior care to all her patients.

    During her studies in Waterloo, Dr. Hong has volunteered with Canadian National Institute for the Blind and provided sighted guidance for visually impaired individuals. She has also volunteered on multidisciplinary medical missions in Honduras to provide eye care to those in need. She looks forward to continuing to volunteer regularly in her community and abroad.

    Outside of the office, Dr. Hong enjoys playing the piano and exploring new recipes in cooking and baking. She also enjoys practicing languages. She is working on improving her fluency in Cantonese and aims to learn Mandarin in the future as well. Born in Mississauga and raised in Oakville, Dr. Hong is enthusiastic to join the practice and provide quality care in Oakville.
